Mural for Pow! Wow! Hawai'i
Honolulu, Hawai'i // February, 2017.
I designed the Break Thru mural to have a push/pull visual effect of two different designs 'stacked' on top of each other. The design forces the viewer to observe all areas of the mural before distinguishing the two separate layers. Similar to when a person is window shopping, they can look thru the window at the object behind the window, or they can look at the surface of the window and see their reflection. This design allows the viewer to visually flip between seeing each design independently, or view both designs as one. My color palette was directly inspired by my associations I have with the Hawaiian Islands.
